Default New Player N/Me, Couple of questions...

Hello!

I bought GW when it came out but never really played. This week I just couldn't be bothered to log into WoW so I decided I would read up on GW and really try to get into it this time (as opposed to last time when I went to post-searing at L3 and was lost and couldn't seem to do anything).

Anyway... So I read a few beginner's guides. I decided to create a N/Me for life-draining and DoT abilities. I really don't know what I'm doing, but the combination sounded like fun in a guide I read.

So... Questions:

1. Is N/Me a good combination? Strange as it seems, I rolled a N for the drain spells, not for raising minions. It seemed N/Me was good for that. Is it a good idea?

2. I am L6 (almost 7) and I have all the quests done except Across the Wall. I have my whole second-tier armor set. I did all of the quests for the N trainer and the Me trainer (I think) and I have about 6 abilities from each. Is there anything else aside from Across the Wall that I should do before I continue?

3. Would my combination be decent for newbie PvP? I have a lot of learning to do, but I'd rather start over with a more viable combination if I'm only going to be disappointed in the end.

Thanks in advance for answers and suggestions =)

N/Me are used for a lot of degen builds. It is viable in pvp. You may have a hard time getting in groups for PvE though. You will have a hard time in newbie PvP area, many twinks are running around with high level armor and elite skills. If you do go into newbie PvP try and keep life siphon and conjure phantasm on as many people as you can.

Don't pvp untill you lvl20... As kalvon said mostly because newbie arenas are plagued by people with droks armor and green weapons. And when you lvl20 and ascended you will be able to change secondary profession at any time.
As for pve it doesnt really mater untill you cap yourself spiteful spirit. Untill then stick with vampiric gaze/touch, life siphon and blood well. Blood magic can get you thru most missions untill ring of fire as it does decent damage and heals you at the same time.

I made a N/Me near when the game came out, but haven't played him until a couple months ago. I found that I wasn't really using my Mesmer skills after about level 10, though, since I had better Necromancer skills to use. So, it may be good to start as an N/Mo and switch your second profession later (you can do this after ascension, usually around level 20). N/Me is used in builds based off of the skills Spiteful Spirit, btw.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions... Seems like a good community here.

I'm not sure what to do now ... I'm L8 so it's a long time until I can change my sub. How/where do I get the skill "Spitefull Spirit" that you speak of?

Also - what can I do with N/Me against 2 mobs that heal each other? I got stuck yesterday on two mobs that were L5 and not hurting me much, but I couldn't get past them because they would just spam heals on each other and I couldn't get them low enough on health to finish them off with Vamp touch. Any suggestions?

Spiteful Spirit is a skill that you won't be seeing much of for a while.

For the healing mobs, not sure. Maybe try Conjure Phantasm on both?

Check out guildwiki.org for some great help in an encyclopedia format.
